Is this the same strain George sold? - John R Powell - 06/03/2011 05:16:33
The first mail order seed I ever bought was from Gleckler's, around 1990, the year Gleckler's carried Brandywine for one year only. It grew well, even in Albuquerque's sometimes difficult climate, and was as vigorous as any hybrid I ever grew. And yes, it tasted just as good as any tomato I ever tasted, with the possible exception of German Head. I have no idea if the late George Gleckler used this same strain for the Brandywine seed he sold that year, but now that Gleckler's is back, I'm glad to see they're carrying Brandywine. Highly recommended.
